I always feel excited when it snows—such is the life of a two-tone person.
Yesterday, snow began falling around noon, mainly in the Kanto region.Speaking of snow, the heavy snowfall in 2014 was truly remarkable.
It was the first time I had seen over 60 cm of snow in Saitama. Like in anime and manga, I could finally dive into the snow, fall down, and bury my face in it—one dream fulfilled. At the time, I was living with my parents. Cars couldn’t move due to the snow, and the roads turned into pedestrian zones—something that left a strong impression on me.
This time, the snow reached nearly 20 cm.
Lately, though, I’ve had unpleasant experiences with snow. Two years ago, after a snowy night, I used an umbrella to remove most of the snow from my windshield in the morning. Then, I tried clearing the remaining snow with the wipers—but they broke.
The repair cost me 50,000 yen, and just a few months later, my car was due for an inspection. I was shocked when they gave me an estimate exceeding 200,000 yen.
The car I had at the time was one I inherited from my parents, who had used it for nearly 18 years. That was when I decided to get a new one. Until then, inspections had never cost more than 100,000 yen, so this was a huge shock.Later, I found out that I had always relied on a franchise shop called “Kobac” for inspections. Some shops can conduct the inspections themselves, while others need to pass inspections at a transport bureau.
Apparently, I had chosen the latter, and that’s why the cost was so high.
